As far back as 1950, the idea took shape of creating a rest stop to draw in travellers along Rome's Grande Raccordo Anulare, a major road artery, equidistant from the centre, fast-flowing and connected to all the main consular roads.
The authors of such an innovative intuition were Nazzareno Spaziani and his young wife Vori Maria, a tenacious and courageous woman — far-sighted entrepreneurs who also devoted themselves to constructing the building that the family still owns today.
Success came at once; the number of customers grew year after year, and it was therefore decided to extend the building to offer guests not only hot meals and cold drinks but also hotel accommodation — the first in this area.
Their young son Giancarlo combined his parents' historic vision with attention to both technological progress and lifestyle, leading to a further evolution.
The interiors of the building were renovated to offer guests innovative, up-to-date services and ever greater comfort.
